NBA Icons

I'm sure that anyone recognizes this silouette as Michael Jordan's. His first commercial with Nike back in '84 pictured him performing a left handed dunk with his legs spread. Nike was back then almost insignificant when compared to the empire it is today. When MJ came back in 95 Nike's stock price shot up. Nowadays the Jordan brand is still market, even in a women's clothing line.

Spread aroun is the NBA's symbol. Now who is the guy holding the ball?
The symbol's model is Jerry West, former LA Laker star and manager, now managing the Memphis Grizzlies. He was a guard with a very good shooting touch. One play he made is still a classic. In a Finals' game the Lakers were down 2 in the last second, West dribbled the ball just into midcourt and threw a shot at the buzzer, nothing but net, overtime. At the time there was no 3pt line, today we'd have won it.
