Glenn "Big Dog Robinson" - The Verdict

Glenn Big dog Robinson is a 6'7'' forward that came out of Purdue, averaging
30ppg and 10rpg. He has not played this season and migh not return, due to bone
spurs in the knee. The last season he was injured until he signed with the
Spurs for the last 10 games of the season, eventualy becoming a champion. He
averaged 10ppg in those 10 regular season games, and played less in the
playoffs.

He demanded a 100 Million USD for 10 Years contract aftter being selected with
the 1st pick in the '94 draft by the bucks. He created some havoc and got his
way, signing for 70M over 7 years, after holding out until the season started.
He once was labelled a bust and was never a popular player, while even becoming
an a all start two times. He has a 20.7 ppg career average.
What is the verdict on his career as a whole?

I wouldn't label him a bust in the sense of Kandi or Joe Smith and he was a
better player than K-mart will ever be. He had a magnificent jumper from 2, but
could not defend, was an average rebounder and had no ball handling skill
except to create his outside jumper.

His teams were non factors and for many years he was nowhere seen in crunch
time. In the '99 shortened season he made 4 game winning shots while averaging
only 18.4 ppg. That is the problem. He was never a leader or a winner, just a
guy who could shoot the ball and who needed the team offense to be configured
for him. Very low profile on and off the court, despite the nickname.

I'd rate him as one of the worst players to average 20 a game. And the proof
that winning a championship is not the best way to evaluate a career.

An average player and little else.

He is the reason why rookie contracts are limited to 3+1 years.
